Yes, you can add Additional Authorized Operators (AAOs) to your reservation.

What do I need to know?

• Drivers must be at least 20 years old.
• Drivers aged 20–24 may incur age differential charges.
• Drivers under 25 cannot be added to Dream, Adrenaline, or Prestige Collection vehicles.
• You can add up to four (4) AAOs or the number of seats in the vehicle, whichever is fewer.

Who is included to drive?

• If you’re a loyalty program member, your spouse or domestic partner can drive the rental car at no extra cost.
• Your spouse or domestic partner does not need to be present at the time of rental.
• Who qualifies as a spouse? Someone in a legally recognized marriage (including same-sex marriages) or a partner in a legally recognized civil union.
• Who qualifies as a domestic partner? An unmarried partner (same-sex or opposite-sex) who is not a relative and lives with you at the same address, confirmed by their driver's license.

• Rentals originating in California include the renter's spouse, child, legal guardian, sibling, parent, or grandparent as additional drivers. They must be present, meet driver qualifications, and present a valid driver’s license.

• The employer, employee, or fellow employee of the renter on company business, if booking includes a company Corporate Discount Number.

How can I add an additional driver?

You can add an AAO at the rental counter:

• Ensure the additional driver is present with you.
• If currently renting, visit a Hertz location with the AAO to update your agreement.
• Both you and the AAO must:
  • Sign the Rental Agreement.
  • Present a valid driver’s license.
